statement of faith

Our Statement of Faith outlines the core beliefs that define who we are at pyur ministries. It serves as a foundation for our commitment to God, our family of believers, and our faith.

The Bible is of God

At Pyur Ministries we believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God, as it is ‘God-breathed’ and given to guide, teach, and equip believers in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It did not originate from human will but was revealed through the Holy Spirit, spoken by prophets chosen by God (2 Peter 1:20-21). As the living and active Word, it has the power to penetrate hearts, discern thoughts, and transform lives (Hebrews 4:12), proving it to be more than mere human writings but the true Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

2 Peter 1:20-21 (NIV)“Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” The Bible is described as a living and powerful force, demonstrating that it is more than just a book but the living Word of God.

Love God, Love People

Jesus teaches that the greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and the second is to love others as ourselves. These two commands are inseparable, as loving others is a natural expression of our love for God. Through love, we fulfill God’s will and reflect His character in the world.

Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV)“Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Jesus clearly states the greatest commandment is to love God, and the second is to love others.

Mark 12:30-31 (NIV)“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”

1 John 4:7-8 (NIV)“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

1 John 4:19-21 (NIV)“We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.”

John 13:34-35 (NIV)
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Jesus commands His followers to love others as He loves them, making it a mark of true discipleship.

Where Two Or More Gather, God is There

Wether there are 5 people or 5000, we believe that when believers gather in unity and in the name of Jesus, God promises His presence among them. As Matthew 18:20 affirms, ‘For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.’ This truth reminds us of the power of fellowship and that God dwells with His people when they come together in faith.

Matthew 18:20 (NIV)
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” This encourages believers to meet together, implying the importance of fellowship where God’s presence works among His people.
1 Corinthians 5:4 (NIV)“So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present…” Paul speaks of the power of Christ being present when believers gather together.

Acts 2:1-2 (NIV)“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.”

Salvation Through Baptism

The foundation of our faith is we believe that Baptism is not merely a symbolic act but a vital part of the salvation process. Scripture teaches that salvation involves both faith and baptism. As Mark 16:16 states, ‘Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved.’ Baptism unites us with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:3-4), and through it, we receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). It is through baptism that we put on Christ (Galatians 3:27) and pledge a clear conscience toward God (1 Peter 3:21), making it essential, not optional, for those seeking salvation.

Mark 16:16 (NIV)“Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”

Acts 2:38 (NIV)
“Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” Peter instructs repentance and baptism for the forgiveness of sins and the reception of the Holy Spirit, implying a strong link to salvation.

1 Peter 3:21 (NIV)
“And this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” Peter explicitly says that baptism saves, though he clarifies that it is not the physical act of washing but the spiritual significance tied to Christ’s resurrection.

Romans 6:3-4 (NIV)“Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

Galatians 3:26-27 (NIV)“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” Paul describes baptism as a means of “putting on” Christ, suggesting it is a step in becoming fully identified with Him.

Family & fellowship

AT Pyur Ministries we believe that family is the key to build and maintain our faith. The Bible emphasizes the importance of the family of believers in keeping us faithful. Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another,” highlighting how believers strengthen one another. Hebrews 10:24-25 urges us to “consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together… but encouraging one another.” The church provides a community of support, accountability, and encouragement. Ephesians 4:16 describes the body of Christ as being “joined and held together by every supporting ligament,” illustrating how each member plays a crucial role in helping others grow and remain steadfast in their faith. Through fellowship, teaching, prayer, and mutual support, the family of believers helps us persevere in our walk with God.

Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Proverbs 27:17 (NIV)
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Fellowship with other believers sharpens and strengthens our faith, helping us grow and stay on course.

Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV)“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” God provides the church with leaders and spiritual gifts to help build one another up in faith, ensuring that the body of believers grows and matures together.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV)“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” Believers are called to encourage and build each other up, reinforcing the necessity of a community to stay strong in faith.

Galatians 6:2 (NIV)“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” The church community supports each other through struggles, helping each member remain faithful by bearing one another’s burdens.

James 5:16 (NIV)“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Mutual confession and prayer within the family of believers fosters healing and spiritual strength, contributing to a faithful walk with God.

Ephesians 4:15-16 (NIV)
“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

As you embark on the journey of building a deeper relationship with God, know that you are not alone. We stand with you, ready to support, encourage, and walk alongside you as you grow in faith. Together, as a family of believers, we help one another stay strong, learn more, and remain faithful to God’s calling. We invite you to join us in this shared commitment to pursue God, lift each other up, and experience the love and strength that comes from being part of His family.
